A regular visa application through the embassy is no longer possible. All applicants must apply for an e-visa (electronic visa) online.  

Since 1 October 2014, all visitors to Zanzibar (except residents with a Tanzanian residence permit) must take out compulsory entry insurance from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) for the duration of their stay (up to 92 days). This insurance can only be taken out with the ZIC, other international travel insurance policies are not accepted. Further information can be found on the ZIC website.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL E-VISA CATEGORIES

  • passport
    coloured copy of double page with personal data, at least valid for 6 months after journey, no temporary passports accepted

  • passport Picture
    biometric, photo requirements

  • proof of entry and exit
    e.g. flight reservation


    FOR TOURIST VISA

    FOR BUSINESS VISA

    additional to minimum requirements above

    • letter of invitation 
      from company in Tansania

    • company letter 
      from employer in Germany (sample)

    • tax certifcate (TIN)
      from company in Tansania

Further documents may be required, which will only be displayed during the application process.

fees per person:
50,00 € to 250,00 € (visa fee, depends on purpose, see application form pages 2/3 and 3/3) 
+ 60,00 € (SERVISUM fee, plus VAT)
plus administration fee (4,50 €, incl. VAT, per order)
