Visa Applications / Entry Requirements: USA (United States of America)
Please plan enough time to apply for your US visa. Currently, appointments for B1/B2 visas are being allocated with a lead time of several weeks.
German citizens are generally visa-exempt for stays up to 90 days under the Visa Waiver Program and must apply online for an entry permit (ESTA = Electronic System for Travel Authorization) up to a maximum of 72 hours before departure.

Citizens of the following countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program and can apply for ESTA:
Andorra, Australia, Belgium, Brunei, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Croatia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco , the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Malta, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, South Korea, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Hungary, United Kingdom

Those not eligible for ESTA must apply for a visa. Visas can be applied for in Berlin, Frankfurt or Munich and only in person at the US Consular Section.
A second passport (without entry stamps from the above-mentioned countries (Iran, Iraq, Syria, etc.)) does not solve the problem, as it cannot be ruled out that airlines will forward passenger data to the US Department of Homeland Security. The visa application is done electronically at: https://de.usembassy.gov/de/ On this website you have to make an appointment and fill in all the necessary forms.

ATTENTION:
- Only electronic biometric passports issued after November 1, 2005 are accepted for ESTA registration.
- If you have traveled to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Libya and/or North Korea since March 1, 2011, you are not eligible to apply for an ESTA and must apply for a visa (see here).
- If you have traveled to Cuba since January 12, 2021, you cannot apply for an ESTA and must apply for a visa (see here).

- Application DS160 (download and fill out here)
- Scan of passport (first page with personal data)
- passport photo (as JPG, min. 600 x 600 pxl, max. 1200 x 1200 pxl) see photo requirements, without glasses!
- BUSINESS TRAVEL: additional company letter from your employer (in English, stating the duration of your employment, position, purpose of travel and name of company in the USA, as a PDF) (sample)
Fees per person:
€175.75 (embassy/consulate fee, B1/B2 visa for German citizens)
+ €190.00 (Servisum fee, plus VAT)
plus administration fee (€4.50, incl. VAT) per order
